SVRA - SVRA TO HOST MOTORSPORTS REUNIONS THROUGHOUT 2019 SEASON

Free Entry For Participating Car Owners

Southlake, TX (November 1, 2018) – The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) today announced it would present motorsports reunions to celebrate iconic marques throughout the 2019 season. The idea was tested with a Corvair reunion at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR) weekend in September with outstanding results. The VIR event saw the largest number of racing Corvairs ever appearing at a single venue, and attracted new car owners to SVRA. VIR drew a record number of ticket-purchasing fans and automobile enthusiasts for its SVRA event. While motorsports reunions have traditionally been annual gatherings at single venues, SVRA is breaking new ground by showcasing such celebrations from coast-to-coast through the national platform of its 2019 schedule.

“Our vision since my first year with SVRA in 2012 was to move our sport from its dependency on entry fees as our primary revenue stream to focus on ticket sales and sponsorships,” said Tony Parella, SVRA president and CEO. “We have not raised the price of entry fees since 2012 while steadily growing our sponsors and the front gate.  SVRA is moving into the realm of mainstream motorsports and this new program is more evidence of that.”

Southlake, TX (April 10, 2018) – The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) today announced that 1996 Indy Car Champion Jimmy Vasser and 2003 Indy Car Champion Paul Tracy will once again compete in the “Indy Legends” Charity Pro-Am at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). Tracy, who won the event in 2016, is returning for his third go at what is arguably the biggest prize in vintage racing. Vasser is coming back for his second stab at victory after making his first appearance last year. The Pro-Am is the Saturday, June 16 feature event of the Brickyard Invitational at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Both Tracy and Vasser are among the major talents of modern Indy car racing. Tracy is a seven-time starter in the Indianapolis 500 with a best finish of second in 2002 in a controversial result that still has bench-racers debating the outcome. Vasser competed in eight Indianapolis 500s, recording two fourths in 1994 and 2001 for his best showings.
