Joey Logano Wins the NASCAR Cup Pole at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV – RIS – Logano is Fastest in NASCAR Cup Qualifying at LVMS .Joey  Logano, who ran 186.053 miles per hour, edged William Byron (185.153) for the first starting spot. Following in the top five were Ryan Blaney, Ty Gibbs and Kyle Busch.

For the No. 22 Team Penske driver, it is his first pole of the season and 27th of his Cup Series career. Logano is the most recent Vegas winner (fall 2022) and has three wins in his last eight starts at the Nevada 1.5-miler.

“Paul (crew chief Paul Wolfe) really gave me a heck of a piece here,” Logano told Fox Sports. “It was on the edge, but it was a really fast car. Hopefully, that speed translates over into the race.

Last season, two of Logano’s four victories were secured from the pole position, something that the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion has done a total of six times throughout his 15-year career.

Busch, Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski, Ross Chastain, Austin Cindric and Christopher Bell rounded out the 10 fastest in qualifying.

Kevin Harvick (14th), Martin Truex, Jr. (15th), Chase Briscoe (20th), Aric Almirola (21st), Daniel Suarez (24th), Austin Dillon (26th), and Ryan Preece (31st) were among the drivers with top organizations that failed to earn a top-10 starting spot.

Harrison Burton crashed in practice after debris apparently punctured his radiator. He slid into the outside wall, causing major damage to the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford.  It was reported that it was a lug nut from Xfinity practice.

“I went sideways really quickly.” Burton said. “I looked at my dash, because I had water temp flash hot… I looked down and then back up to go in the corner, and as soon as I turned in, it was really sideways. … That sucks so bad. I felt like we had a decent car. It fired off OK with a lot of grip. Then all of a sudden, there wasn’t.”

Tyler Reddick‘s car had engine issues, and he missed the qualifying session.
