Ryan Preece Wins Nashville Race for the Second Year in a Row

LEBANANON, TN – RIS – Ryan Preece is two-for-two.  Preece, the winner last year at Nashville Superspeedway, won again on Friday night in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and dominated the race.  The 31-year-old driver from Berlin, Connecticut, won the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rackley Roofing 200 race in 2021 and repeated Friday night before an estimated crowd of 7,000.

Preece, who was on the pole, has entered eight truck races in his career. His only wins have come at Nashville.

"I guess I'm actually really have to learn how to play," Preece said after accepting his second custom guitar trophy. "Winning's always fun. Racing is as much of a mental sport as it is anything. I'm a very confident person."

It turned out to be a Gilliland Racing Ford show for most of the night.  At the start, his teammate took the lead from him in the first stage, but it was a different story for most of the night.  Preece led for 74 laps. He is running a limited schedule in the truck series this season. It was his fifth top-10 finish. Zane Smith, who led after the first stage (45 laps) finished second. He led a total of 70 laps. Carson Hocevar was third, Ty Majeski was fourth and Stewart Friesen was fifth.

Smith leads the point standings by 21 points over John Hunter Nemechek. Preece and Smith combined to lead 144 of the 150 lap event.

Carson Hocevar overcame mid-race contact with John Hunter Nemechek to finish third. Ty Majeski finished fourth for his third straight top five finish, and Stewart Friesen rounded out the top five.

Christian Eckes, Tyler Ankrum, Max Gutierrez, Nemechek and Matt Crafton completed the top 10.

With his victory, Preece also takes home a $50,000 bonus as part of the Triple Truck Challenge. Nashville marked the second of three races with the Camping World-backed incentive, allowing Preece to join World Wide Technology Raceway winner Corey Heim as this year’s beneficiaries so far. The program continues at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on July 9.
