Kyle Busch Wins Texas Truck Race After the DQ in Xfinity

FORT WORTH, TX – RIS – Kyle Busch finished first in the Xfinity race early today, but in post-race inspection, his car was too low and he was disqualified, but he had another race to run Saturday night.  The NASCAR Outdoors Series race was next on his schedule and he was up to the task, winning in a battle with his teammate over the final 10 laps.  Upon being congratulated by an NBC commentator, Busch said, “Technically, I haven’t won yet, so put it over the sticks,” apparently meaning his KBM Toyota had not passed inspection yet.

It was Busch’s fifth career win in a Truck at Texas. It also was his fifth and final start in a Truck this season, winning three of those (the others were Las Vegas and Homestead).

His young Kyle Busch Motorsports teammate, Christian Eckes, finished second. Defending Truck Series champion Matt Crafton equaled his season-best showing by finishing third, Stewart Friesen had a season-best fourth place finish and Brett Moffitt was fifth.

Busch didn’t quite dominate this time.  After starting back in the field due to a draw, he steadily moved forward and won the first stage.  Brett Moffitt won the second stage.  The final run was a battle between Busch and Eckes, with Busch making a late pass and going on to victory.

The Texas Motor Speedway surface was slick and led to problems for several drivers, but former series champion Johnny Sauter was still competitive, but his engine expired at Lap 63 of the 187-lap race.

Busch led the most laps (72) and Eckes led 52.  There were five caution periods for a total of 26 laps.
