Kyle Busch Wins the Xfinity Race at Texas

FORT WORTH, TX – RIS -Kyle Busch took advantage of a late pit stop in which he came out in first place to propel him to victory lane in the My Bariatric Solutions 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday.  After his win in the Gander Outdoors Truck Series race on Friday night, this win gives him the chance to do the triple pay if he wins the Monster Energy Cup race on Sunday.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch hung on to earn his third victory in four Xfinity Series starts so far this season. The only Xfinity Series race in which Busch has competed but not won so far this season is the race at Auto Club Speedway. Busch finished this race in second place behind Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer.

Busch, who started the in fifth place in his #18 Toyota, won it by 0.861 seconds over Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick, who finished in second in his Chevrolet.

Busch only led 33 laps en route to the win far below the 127 led by teammate Christopher Bell, but led the one that mattered-the one that had a checkered flag and a big trophy waiting in victory lane.

This victory is the 95th victory of Busch’s Xfinity Series career, extending his all-time record, and it is the 203rd victory of his NASCAR career, also extending his all-time record.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell, who started the race from the pole position and led more laps than anyone else in the field with 128 laps led, finished in third place in his #20 Toyota.

The race featured a total of 11 lead changes among five drivers. Aside of Busch, who led only 33 laps in what was a rare non-dominant Xfinity Series victory for him, four drivers led at least one lap of the race. Those drivers were Reddick, Bell, Sieg and JR Motorsports’ Noah Gragson. Bell won stage one and Sieg won stage two.

The race also featured a total of nine caution flag periods, of which took place as a result of on-track incidents and two took place as a result of the endings of stages one and two, for 46 laps. Of the 38 drivers who started the race, 30 finished it and 14 finished it on the lead lap.

Bush has a limited number of starts in the Xfinity Series, due to a NASCAR rule, and he has nearly exhausted those chances.
