NEWTON, IA – RIS – Justin Allgaier led 182 of the 250 laps at the Iowa 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series Iowa 250 and went on to victory.  Allgaier started 11th, but steadily moved up through the field until he passed then-leader Austin Cindric with 11 laps to go in Stage 1.

He held on to win that Stage.  After that, it was pretty much the Justin Allgaier show when he won Stage 2 and crossed the finish line as the race winner.

It was the second Xfinity win of 2018 in the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro out of the shops of JR Motorsports, owned by Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Christopher Bell pushed Allgaier throughout the final stage – at times closing to within a tenth of a second of taking the lead – but finished second. Bell tried a inside pass for the lead with three Laps to go, but ended up just short

Allgaier also won last month at Dover. He has seven career victories.

Daniel Hemric was third, followed by Cole Custer and Brandon Jones. Riley Herbst was sixth in his series debut.  Cindric, the ear;y leader who led the first 58 laps of the event, faded and finished out of the top 10 in 11th place.

Points leader Elliott Sadler lost a tire at the end of stage one. He finished 28th and saw his lead dwindle to just four points in the series standings.
