Dover, DE - RIS - Kyle Larson takes his first Pole Position for the 2018 season at the  49th Annual “AAA 400 Drive for Autism” Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event. Kyle brings the Chevrolet Camaro to it’s first Pole start since the Daytona 500 at the beginning of the season.

In interviews after taking the Pole, Kyle was asked did the ride give him everything he had hoped for; Kyle explained: “I felt like I nailed that lap pretty good.” During each round of qualifying he had planned to move up the track, but during the first round he was loose coming into the turns, and with proper adjustments over the next two rounds the team found a happy medium which put it all together for the Chip Ganassi Racing team and Kyle Larson.

This pole position is his first in nine starts at Dover International Speedway, and it is also his fifth in 158 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup series starts. Kyle Larson speed for the effort was 158.103 MPH with a time of 22.770 seconds on the hot concrete.

Sitting outside and starting in the second position with be Kevin Harvick wheeling the Jimmy John’s Ford for Stewart/Haas Racing. Harvick has posted his 10th top ten start of 2018. Kicking the event off at third will be Martin Truex Jr. The fastest rookie qualifying is William Byron who will bring out the Axalta Chevrolet #24.

See you at the track.
