Newman Wins Phoenix In Overtime

(PHOENIX, AZ – MAR 19, 2017 – RIS) Ryan Newman held off a charge from Kyle Larson to win the Camping World 500 at Phoenix International Raceay, breaking a streak of 127 races since his last victory and the first win in 112 races for team owner Richard Childress. This is Newman's 18th checkered flag in NASCAR Monster Energy Series competition.

Joey Logano went from pole to pop when his right front tire blew with less than ten laps left in today's Camping World 500 at Phoenix. Ryan Newman elected to stay on the track and gained the lead going into the overtime restart, joined by Ricky Stenhouse and Martin Truex. Kyle Larson took on two tires, got around Stenhouse and Truex, with Larson turning down to try a pass, but found Stenhouse coming up beside him, slowing him and handing the win to Newman. Third place finisher Kyle Busch topped 114 laps out of the 314 in the race.

Ron Fleshman will be here shortly with a complete race report.
