LVMS to Host Two Cup Races in 2018

LAS VEGAS, NV – RIS - Las Vegas Motor Speedway is gaining more events for 2018.  An announcement today at the site of this weekend’s Monster Energy Cup race acknowledged what everyone was saying for about ten days.  The track will host two triple race weekends next year.

The event is planned for the latter part of September in 2018, taking the place of the second New Hampshire Motor Speedway race date as part of NASCAR's Playoffs.

The standalone Xfinity race at Kentucky will move to the second Vegas race weekend, while the standalone Truck race at Las Vegas will be realigned with the spring Vegas race weekend. With these changes, LVMS will become the only track on the NASCAR schedule with two triple-headers in 2018.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for Speedway Motorsports and Las Vegas Motor Speedway to create a NASCAR spectacle worthy of the greatest racing in the world and the Entertainment Capital of the World,” said Speedway Motorsports, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Marcus Smith.

“It’s taken a tremendous amount of work to make this happen, and we are very thankful to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and NASCAR for their support in our endeavor to create a triple-header NASCAR weekend in such a world-class destination
