No. 9 = Four = 51 As Byron Takes Kentucky

William Byron holds off Daniel Hemric

(SPARTA, KY – JULY 7, 2016 – RIS) Wunderkind William Byron continued his record-setting 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season by scoring his fourth victory in the year's ten races contested to date. The win marked Kyle Busch Motorsports' 51st win in the truck series, making this the team with the most series wins.

Brett Moffitt had the engine let go in his No. 11 Toyota to bring out the first caution on lap 25, but luckily, nobody spun in the liquids on the track. After the restart, Byron tried to move outside of leader Daniel Suarez, then Daniel Hemric looked inside of Byron but faded as Christopher Bell moved into third. After a quick debris caution almost immediately, Hemrick took the lead briefly, before ceding it again to his friend William Byron.

For the final ten or fifteen laps, Hemric and John Hunter Nemechek battled for second, with Nemechek eventually getting the position with three laps left,

Kyle Busch, holder of 39 NCWTS wins as driver, got taken out of the race after 56 laps in a crash with Austin Wayne Self. "It was self-inflicted, I guess," commented a less-than-happy Busch. "[I]Got back in traffic and I don't know. Going down the back stretch I thought I had enough room on the inside, but I know who I crashed with. That doesn't surprise me, now I know how John Wes Townley feels. It's just a shame. Brand new truck and really good piece – destroyed."

"I can't say enough about this organization. It's so awesome to have Kyle (Busch, owner) and Samantha's support, Toyota's support with great Toyota Tundras and great JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing Engines) tonight," exulted Byron. "It's a dream come true to get a win like this. It just keeps going, I have a great team behind me. I have to thank Liberty University and everyone that puts it together."

Byron's final laps were not without worries: "I honestly felt like I had a right rear tire going down," he said. "With the new surface it's hard to get a tire to last that long. I had quite the vibration the last three or four laps. I was just hoping and praying that there would be no cautions. Just a great run for us. Our Liberty University Tundra was really good tonight and we were able to stay out front that last run and that was the key.

"I was probably looking out the rear view mirror on the straightaway and sometimes off the corner. That was all I was doing – trying to block whatever line they were going and with these trucks you get a big draft and was trying to manage that. We have a great race team. I can't wait for the Chase and I'm just having a blast."

Kyle Busch compared the KBM teams to a family: "It is, it really is. All these guys have worked for us as long as they have like Rudy Fugle (crew chief) and right now on this No. 9 team with William Byron and Jerry (Baxter, No. 4 crew chief) coming over with us the last few years. Starting out with Eric Phillips and Eric being there from day one, helping us build this program to what it is today. Coming over to the building every once in a while checking in on things and what's going on.

"We just have fun doing what we are doing and obviously it wouldn't be possible without the support of Toyota, Liberty University, ARRIS and JEGs and all the people that have been there for us at Kyle Busch Motorsports over the years."
