Dover - RIS - Denny Hamlin takes the Coors Light Pole for the 46th Annual FedEx 400 benefiting Autism at Dover International Speedway. His speed of 160.121 mph and a time of 22.483 seconds kept the Martin Truex, Jr team off the pole and his 159.723 and time of 22.539.

This would be Hamlin’s 21st pole in 339 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. Though this would be Denny Hamlin’s first pole of the 2015 campaign it is also only his sixth top-10 start on the season. Being the driver of the Sponsor of the event it carries much more meaning for the team. Bare in mind that this pole start is Denny’s third pole in just 19 Dover starts makes it look a little easy for the team. They have not won here and have struggled on the Concrete Mile.

Earlier this month the team got to run some extra laps on the concrete with a tire testing session that lasted over two days the Dover and it appears to have paid off, but will it carry them through a first visit to Victory Lane?  We will not know until Sunday’s 400 mile event comes to conclusion, but I bet you can could on the team being a sure contender in the end.

Martin Truex, Jr. posts his seventh top-10 start in the 2015 Sprint Cup season. It would also be his ninth in 19 races at Dover International Speedway. The Furniture Row/Visser Chevrolet has been strong and it should be noted that the ride is the same ride they have used for the past two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.Martin explained that it is the newest next generation NASCAR Sprint Cup ride in their shop and in truth, it is the only car they have available for now. The second car is just not quite ready yet, but they feel it will be very soon.

Kicking off in third will be Kyle Larson in the #42 Target Chevrolet. This start will be his third top-10 start at Dover International Speedway and his 12th for the season.
