Weather Presents a Double Header for World Of Outlaws at UNOH DirtCar Nationals, Donny Schatz and Craig Dollansky Split The Wins.
BARBERVILLE, Fla. - RIS – Friday night rain caused a delay in the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals. This delay presented a great day of racing at Volusia Speedway. In the first Sprint Car Feature Donny Schatz took home $10,000 for the win. Schatz raced the field to the Checkered flag while being chased by the likes of Sammy Sindell, Jason Meyers, and Joey Saldana. There was the chance of another rain storm passing through the area, but it held off for the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.
After the finish of the first full event the stands were emptied at Volusia and refilled by thousands of race fans. It was a fast, furious pace for the drivers, mechanics, as well as the fans. The Volusia track crew worked magic with the crowd and the track. As soon as the World of Outlaws was complete the Modifieds put on another show, more to follow on this event, but back to the Sprints.
The entire feature race ran with minimal problems, Brian Ellenberger spinning coming out of turn four and hitting the outside wall with some force, but still finishing in the 21st spot. During the 20 lap feture the entire field chased, and challenged Donny Schatz, but none had the engine to make a solid pass and hold it. Had not Kraig Kinser of started 21st he may have had a chance, but he worked up the field 13 places and finished in 8th.
27 World of Outlaws start the day and all would be ready to run the second half of the show.
The sun pushed off the clouds, but not the wind, it also set up a quick drying on the track, and this is where the crew really shined themselves. The drivers repeatedly came out to check the texture, but each found nothing to be alarmed about and the show went on.
In truth, at the end of the week of DirtCar Nationals there are no shows scheduled at Volusia Speedway for the remainder of the 2012 season. Why, you may ask, this writer was informed by track employees that the promoter for the track has left and there is no one in the wings. For the potential of racing available from February through November, it would appear that there is a void here. With all the NASCAR Drivers past, present, and future passing through here this week it may only be a matter of tie before weekly shows are back.

In the second World of Outlaw feature Craig Dollansky denied Donny Schatz a sweep and took home the win. Craig Dollansky took the lead on the start and would lead the entire 25 laps. The temperature was steadily dropping from the earlier event, and the wind kept the chill in the air, but the drivers delivered the heat for the fans.
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion came out to run with the Outlaws and started 13th and ended the night in 11th. Smoke and may other NASCAR regulars stop in to run with the World of Outlaws regulars throughout the season across the country and the UNOH DirtCar Championships sure is one on the calendar for Tony “Smoke”
