Bobby Gerhart Wins 8th Time At Daytona International Speedway in ARCA Event
Bobby Gerhart runs from 5th to 1st on lap 83 at Daytona.
Daytona International Speedway, FL – RIS – Bobby Gerhart takes the #5 Lucas Oil Slick Mist Chevrolet from 5th to first on the final lap, no the final quarter lap, to win the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200. Bobby Gerhart racing out of Lebanon, PA has won for the 8th time at Daytona. He gets credit for leading the 83rd lap which was the third lap of ARCA Racing Series version of overtime.
Brandon McReynolds lead 64 of the scheduled 80, but ran out of fuel after the 5th the Green flag restart on lap 82, and he finished in the 11th unofficially.
Last year Bobby Gerhart topped off for fuel on lap ten and ran the final 70 laps to win, but this year he had some early trouble dropping him a lap down, but he worked his way through the field and waited to pounce after reaching 5th in the field. It just didn’t look like he was going to make a repeat of last year and he reached into a Dale Earnhardt box of tricks in his 4th turn run to the lead. This set up the field and he pulled out an unlikely victory.
#28 Drew Charlson finished 2nd, Will Kimmel; #68, is listed at 3rd, Steve Blackburn; #94 was 4th, and rounding out the top five is #66 driven by Mark Thompson.
